Which SSD Should I Get for My MSI B150M PRO-VDH Motherboard?

I'm a complete beginner when it comes to PC building. I built my own system a long time ago, but I haven't upgraded it in over a decade aside from adding some RAM and storage.

I'm looking to buy an SSD primarily for storage, gaming, and for photo and video editing. Currently, I have an MSI B150M PRO-VDH motherboard and I'm using a Kingston A400 480GB 2.5" SATA III as my OS drive.

What type of SSD would be best for me? I'm pretty lost when it comes to SATA cables or terms like PCIe. I'd really appreciate some guidance on what SSD to buy. Thank you!

I'd recommend sticking with another 2.5" SATA SSD. Your motherboard doesn't support M.2 slots for PCIe/NVMe SSDs, which are the latest type of SSDs today. So, just get a regular 2.5" SATA SSD for your setup.

Go for a 2.5" SATA SSD since your MSI B150M PRO-VDH motherboard lacks an NVMe M.2 slot. A solid choice would be the Samsung 870 EVO. It's reliable and performs well for gaming and editing.
