I'm looking to put together my very first gaming setup, but I'm feeling a bit lost on where to begin. I mostly want it to run The Sims, which I know requires decent hardware. Any recommendations on what components I should consider or what to get would be hugely appreciated!

Quick question—what's your budget? Also, do you already have a monitor? That might influence what parts you choose.
You could consider posting in communities like buildapcforme. Just fill out the info template they have, and the folks there can help you out with personalized suggestions!
Definitely check out pcpartpicker.com. It's super helpful for picking compatible parts and will help you visualize your build. You can also see price comparisons, which is a lifesaver!
A good starting point is to think about your budget. That will really determine what you can get. Also, since you'll mainly be playing The Sims, focus on getting a reliable CPU and at least 16GB of RAM. You won't need an insane GPU unless you're planning on modding heavily.

I haven't set a firm budget yet, but I'm hoping to keep it reasonable. I don't have a monitor yet either!
