Constant Micro-Freezes in Resident Evil Requiem with RTX 4060 Ti – Need Help!

I'm experiencing annoying micro-freezes while playing Resident Evil Requiem, and I'm at a loss about what might be causing them. The stutters occur during various situations: when moving between areas, during gameplay, in cutscenes, and even in the main menu where the background animations jitter. Interestingly, the audio remains smooth, which makes me think it's not a performance issue. Here's a brief on my setup:

- GPU: RTX 4060 Ti 8GB
- CPU: i5-14600KF
- RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200MHz (with XMP enabled)
- Storage: NVMe SSD
- Resolution: 1080p

In-game, my GPU utilization hovers around 90-95%, but the CPU isn't maxed out, and temps are normal. I've already attempted several fixes, like lowering settings, turning off ray tracing, adjusting DLSS, and capping FPS, but nothing has solved the issue. Other recent games like Silent Hill 2 perform just fine, which leaves me puzzled. I'm wondering if it's a driver issue, shader compilation issue, or perhaps a glitch with the RE Engine or RTX 4000 cards. Has anyone else dealt with similar issues in this game or with other RE Engine titles? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like this might be more of a frame pacing issue rather than a straight-up hardware problem, especially since the audio is running fine. Here are a few things to try:

- First, disable any overlays you have running, like the GeForce Experience, Steam, Discord, or any performance monitoring tools. Even just having an FPS counter on can cause stuttering in some DX12 games.
- Next, switch between fullscreen exclusive and borderless window mode, and try turning on VSync with a capped FPS (maybe try 60 or 90) as a quick check.
- If you're using a G-Sync or FreeSync monitor, turn off VRR in both your monitor settings and the Nvidia control panel to see if that helps.
- Lastly, toggle Windows' "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling" on and off to see if it makes a difference.

You should be good with an RTX 4060 Ti at 1080p, but if you're running high or ultra textures, consider lowering them a notch, as sometimes the game can demand more VRAM unexpectedly.

Happy gaming!

Thanks for the tips! I had no idea overlays could cause that much trouble. I disabled the Steam overlay, and it definitely improved my game performance!
