Should I Choose the Ryzen 7 7800X3D or 7700 for My RTX 4070 PC Build?

I'm building a new PC and trying to decide between the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and the Ryzen 7 7700. There's about a $150 price difference here. I'm pairing it with an RTX 4070 and my main games are CS2, Battlefield, and GTA. I want a CPU that will last a long time without needing to upgrade, so I'm wondering if spending more for the X3D is worth the performance boost or if the 7700 is good enough for longevity with this GPU. Any advice would be appreciated!

I think the 7800X3D is definitely the better choice, especially if you plan to keep it for 4+ years. The performance boost you get for gaming is worth the extra cash, particularly for titles that can benefit from the additional cache. If you're on a budget, though, the 7700 can handle most games well for the near future, but you might feel the need to upgrade sooner than with the X3D. Just be cautious about the "just a little more and you'll get this..." reasoning.

I agree with you. It's easy to get caught up in upgrading and then suddenly your budget is blown. There has to be a balance! OP needs to figure out what value means for them.
