I'm considering purchasing an Intel i7 processor, specifically the 980X, 2600K, or 4790K. Will any of these older models handle basic tasks effectively, like word processing and watching YouTube?

It really depends on what you mean by basic tasks. For office work, YouTube, and light gaming, the 4790K is definitely up to the job. The 980X and 2600K are quite outdated, so I'd skip those unless you're getting them dirt cheap.
Yeah, mostly just watching YouTube and using Word.
