Is My PC Issue Due to Overheating or Something Else?

I recently built a PC that's been running smoothly until today. My CPU has never exceeded 60°F based on temperature readings. Here's what I'm working with: an Asus TUF Gaming b650e motherboard, AMD Ryzen 5 7600 CPU, Lenovo GeForce RTX 2070S GPU, an 850 watt PSU, and 4 case fans. This morning, shortly after powering it up, the PC abruptly shut down. Now it seems to only power on for half a second to a minute at most. The downtime between attempts makes it last a bit longer. I've removed all peripherals and reseated the GPU and RAM, but it seems to only power on for half a second afterward. Once, I did get it to show the Asus splash screen after a longer wait, but I can't boot into Windows. It also requires the power supply to be turned off and back on again to show any signs of life after it shuts down. I'm thinking it might be overheating, but could there be other issues at play? I've ordered a PSU tester from Amazon. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Have you checked your CPU cooler? Re-pasting or re-mounting it can sometimes help. It might not just be the CPU overheating—it could be an issue with the power supply as well. Since you have integrated graphics, I suggest removing the GPU and seeing if it runs on those graphics for a bit. That could help diagnose if the GPU is part of the problem.

Make sure to thoroughly check your user manual for fan connections and airflow directions. It’s crucial to have proper airflow, with cold air entering from one area and hot air exiting from another. Also, ensure you're using high-quality thermal paste in the correct spots. In some cases, the stock cooler may not be sufficient, so consider upgrading to a better one if needed. If this feels over your head, don’t hesitate to reach out to the component manufacturer’s help line or even a professional for diagnostics.
