Hey everyone! I'm gearing up to build my first PC and could really use some guidance to make sure I don't mess things up. Currently, I have an HP Omen 17 laptop with an Intel Core i7-11800H, 16GB RAM, and a GeForce 3070 GPU. I mostly play games, but I've noticed some serious performance drops in titles like Planet Zoo, where my CPU and RAM struggle under heavy loads. I've considered buying a gaming laptop, but I'm leaning towards building a PC instead since it seems more cost-effective for upgrades in the long run.
I've done some research on parts, and I definitely want 32GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD, with a GeForce RTX 5070 GPU being my top pick. I used PCPartPicker to help ensure compatibility, but I'm a bit confused about the finer details. My budget is about €2300, including a monitor, and I'm hoping to get everything built in around three weeks.
Here's what I've tentatively selected: 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 RAM, a 2TB Samsung 990 Pro NVME SSD, and an Asus DUAL OC GeForce RTX 5070. I also need advice on the CPU, motherboard, cooling fans, and how many I should get. My main concern is making sure everything works well together to avoid any bottlenecks. Sounds like an exciting build! For CPU, I recommend considering the Ryzen 7800X3D. It offers excellent performance for your needs and might save you some cash compared to the 9850X3D. For the motherboard, a B850 could be a good choice instead of the X870; it’ll save you some money without sacrificing necessary features. As for cooling, I'd suggest 3-6 case fans, depending on your case size and airflow requirements. Good airflow will keep your hardware running smoother!
You might want to check out the RX 9070XT! It's around €50 more than your GPU choice but delivers better performance. Just be aware that switching to Radeon means getting familiar with their drivers, which is quite different from NVIDIA. I also recommend having at least 3 case fans for good cooling, especially if you're gonna push your CPU for gaming!

Definitely go for a liquid cooler if you can! A 360mm cooler will handle temps much better. The RTX 5070 is a solid choice for 1440p gaming; the extra cores will definitely benefit you. For the power supply, consider an 850W for some future-proofing and possible overclocking. Plus, you can never have too many fans; I’d say aim for around 4-6 for good airflow.
