Why is ChatGPT Mixing Up My Conversations?

I'm having a strange issue with ChatGPT where I have several projects going, and both memory and reference chats turned on. After asking a couple of questions in a single thread, it starts giving me totally off-topic responses. For instance, when I'm trying to discuss a technical feature, it suddenly brings up a medical proposal I asked about weeks ago. Even when I rephrase my questions, it dives into unrelated areas and acts overly chatty, which isn't what I'm looking for. Has anyone else run into this issue? Also, I've noticed that the 3.5 model seems to be the default now; is that related?

Have you thought about archiving old chats? It might help clear the clutter.

I ended up deleting a bunch of chats instead—it felt more effective. I’ve seen some odd entries in memory too, like random stuff about planning parties. Does anyone know what exactly gets stored in memory versus what doesn't? It feels like things should be organized better.

I had something similar happen inside a project. If those responses were in the project's canvas, looping back to old chats can happen, which is super frustrating. After a while, I just started a new project and deleted the one that was misbehaving, and that resolved it. If this issue is happening outside of projects, though, you might be in for a rough ride! Honestly, I think the new memory feature is buggy at best.

Right, I wasn't using the canvas. Just regular chats in the Windows app, and it was really unexpected. I had to turn off the memory and reference chats to clear things up.

Check the community. A lot of people have been complaining about ChatGPT acting oddly today. I’m sure there’ll be some updates or tweets clarifying what's going on.
