What could be causing my PC to not power on after sleep mode?

I put my PC in sleep mode before stepping outside for about an hour. When I returned, the power button was flashing blue, which is normal for sleep mode. However, pressing it didn't bring the PC back to life—there were no sounds or lights at all. I tried unplugging everything and waiting a few minutes before plugging it all back in, but nothing changed. What should I do next?

It sounds like your power supply might have failed. Also, it could be the motherboard. Thankfully, neither of those is the most expensive component to replace right now. You might want to try resetting the BIOS, although that can vary by motherboard. Make sure to unplug and replug the main cables too!

Have you checked for dust buildup inside the case? Sometimes dust can block vents and cause safety shutdowns. If airflow is restricted, the PC might refuse to power on to prevent damage.

I had a similar issue recently where my PC wouldn’t turn on after a short break. I unplugged the power supply and checked all the connections inside, and ultimately decided to replace the power supply. It was a 14-month-old one that failed. I’d guess yours might be the same.
