I recently purchased a prebuilt PC from PCSpecialist, and I'm having some serious issues. The CPU temperature spikes to 105°C just in the BIOS menu, and the cooling fan is excessively loud. I feel like this is throttling the performance significantly, likely to prevent any damage. I'm torn between trying to fix it myself by reseating the CPU cooler or just returning the whole unit. What do you think is the best course of action?

Honestly, just send it back! If there's an issue from shipping or assembly, it's on them to fix it. You should never have to deal with a product you're not satisfied with from the get-go.
Sounds like the CPU cooler was either installed incorrectly or is malfunctioning. You might want to reinstall it with some new thermal paste. It's not too hard if you’re careful, but I understand why you'd be hesitant. Just make sure you check the warranty terms first—it could void it if you open up the system.
I was worried about that too! I only got it last week and I'm really hesitant to mess with it, but it does seem like an installation issue.
Could be the cooler isn’t working right or it wasn't put on properly. I'd definitely call the store to see if messing with it is allowed under their warranty. If you're clear to go ahead, clean the old thermal paste off and apply a new layer. But if it doesn’t help, just go ahead and return it instead.
I've already contacted them to return it, especially since it won’t even turn on anymore!

Right? I really wanted to reset it for them, but since it won’t start, I have to explain the situation when I return it.
