I've been out of the PC hardware scene for about 5 years since I built my current setup. Here's what I've got:
- Intel i9-9900K
- 32GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM
- Gigabyte Master Z390 motherboard
- RTX 2080 Ti (which died, but was replaced with a 3070)
- Seasonic 850-watt Titanium PSU
Currently, I'm gaming on a 4K LG OLED C3 and I'm looking to upgrade to a 5080, although I might settle for a 5070 Ti to improve my 4K gaming experience. My 3070 isn't cutting it anymore, especially at higher settings. My main concern is whether my existing CPU and RAM will hold me back from getting the most out of a new GPU. Should I just upgrade the GPU to a 5000 series and keep everything else, or do I need to think about upgrading the CPU and RAM simultaneously? Thanks for your advice!

When gaming at 4K, the GPU is usually the bottleneck, so upgrading to a 5080 will likely give you a big boost without needing to change your CPU right away. Your i9-9900K is a bit dated, but it should still hold up for many titles. If you're into competitive gaming, you might notice some performance limits though. For DDR4, Intel's 12th and 13th gen or Ryzen 5000 are solid options, but you won't really see massive benefits at 4K. No need to worry about the X3D chips if you're focusing on 4K gaming.

Thanks for the insight! I figured the GPU would carry most of the weight at 4K, but just wanted to be sure. If I can stick with the 9900K and just upgrade the GPU for now, that’s what I’ll do!
