I'm curious about how Linux performs on a system with a 9800X3D GPU, 2TB SSD, and 32GB of RAM. Has anyone with similar specs tried it out? What was your experience?

No joke, it'll run like a dream! With those specs, you shouldn't run into any issues at all.

I have an RTX 3090 and a Ryzen 9 7900X, and I've had no issues with Linux. For a good gaming experience, I'd recommend a distro like Bazzite or CachyOS that includes the latest Nvidia drivers. Just a heads up though, there might be a slight dip in performance for games that use DirectX 12, but that's an ongoing Nvidia issue. Check out ProtonDB for compatibility details!

If you're not keen on fiddling with settings for your Nvidia graphics card, it's best to choose a Linux distribution that comes with the Nvidia drivers preinstalled. Many users struggle to get their Nvidia GPUs working properly because they don't know how to set them up right. It can be a hassle for those who aren't super tech-savvy.
