Will the Price of the i5-14600KF Keep Rising?

I'm considering grabbing the i5-14600KF CPU from NewEgg for my son, but it's currently backordered at $228. I bought the i5-14600K last October for $175 with a free cooler, which was a great deal. While I know predicting price changes is tricky, I'm trying to decide if I should order it now to lock in the price or wait for it to come back in stock in the hopes of a lower price. What do you all think?

The price is up right now mainly because it's one of the faster yet affordable CPUs that can use DDR4. Unless AMD brings back the 5700X3D for a super low price, it's likely to keep going up. The 14600K is slightly better than a 5800XT with DDR4, but slower than a 9600X with DDR5. Now that DDR5 prices are sky-high, the i5-14600K's popularity is climbing again. So, I wouldn't count on the price dropping anytime soon, especially until DDR5 gets more affordable.

I'd guess that Intel might have either stopped production on that CPU or will soon, which could push prices up even more.

Is this for an upgrade or a new build? Kinda need more details to help out here.

It's just an upgrade for an existing system. I'm switching out the CPU.
