I recently bought an app that requires a kernel extension to work properly and I'm using it on my M4 MacBook Pro with Tahoe. I followed the instructions step-by-step—I powered down, booted into recovery mode, accessed the startup security utility, chose reduced security, and allowed user management of kernel extensions from identified developers. After restarting, I expected to see an option in Settings under Privacy & Security to allow the specified developer, but that option never appears. I've tried reinstalling the app and even switched to a different user account, but nothing seems to work. I haven't received any support from the developer either. Any advice on how to resolve this?

What app are you trying to get the kernel extension for? The steps you mentioned seem right on track. Usually, after you restart and log in, a popup should appear asking for approval for the kernel extension. You should be able to click on it to go directly to the Privacy and Security settings to grant permission. That’s how it worked for me in the past!

The app is BitLocker Reader by UUByte. It’s supposed to let Mac users read data from external drives that have been encrypted with BitLocker on Windows. But I'm just not getting that pop-up at all to approve it.
