I'm in the market for a 1440p OLED monitor mainly for gaming, and I've been seeing a lot of discussions about 360Hz and even 480Hz monitors. I'm questioning whether it's necessary to invest in one of these high refresh rate models when I think that a 240Hz option should be sufficient since I doubt many games will consistently hit those higher frame rates.

It really comes down to personal preference. A lot of gamers are perfectly happy with refresh rates under 240Hz. For the average user, the extra frames you get past that point often go unnoticed, especially if you're not playing at super high FPS.
