Have Lenovo ThinkPads with USB-C Charging Ports Improved Over Time?

I'm curious if all Lenovo ThinkPads that feature USB-C charging ports have had a history of failure. Has this issue been addressed in the newer models, like the E14 Gen 4? Or is the T480 still seen as the last truly reliable ThinkPad?

Most of the issues with USB-C charging have been resolved through firmware updates. The failure rates are now very low, and we haven't seen problems with any models recently.

The only issues I've noticed occurred when firmware updates were done with Dell docks connected. Since we changed our update process, we haven't run into any problems. It seems like a good solution.

I've used several models, including the T490 and the T14 Gen 3, and I haven't experienced any USB-C failures. However, the E series seems to have much more frequent issues compared to the T series, which generally holds up better.

That's great to hear! But I've had a couple of T14s where battery replacements were needed way more often than I'd like.

This problem was actually fixed a while back, and affected models, especially the popular T480, were patched with firmware updates. Just to clarify, this isn't solely a Lenovo issue.
