Can I Switch IMEIs Between Phones to Activate My Old Samsung?

I'm trying to get my Samsung Stratosphere II activated. It's a 4G device, but Verizon no longer supports it due to the absence of VoLTE. I want to play around with the phone, but I need a compatible IMEI to activate it. Is there any way I can swap the IMEI with another compatible phone? Alternatively, I'm also looking for other methods to activate it that don't involve the IMEI. I'm considering replacing the Qualcomm chip, but I'd rather avoid that if possible!

No, you really can't switch IMEIs. That number is unique to each device and it's designed to be unchangeable. People used to clone IMEIs to create burner phones, which is why newer models try to prevent that. If you're looking to activate your phone, you'll want to focus on whether it's unlocked instead and get a new SIM from a different carrier if that's the case.

Switching IMEIs is definitely not an option since they are the serial numbers of the phones. Instead, check if your device is unlocked—there are apps that can help with that, or you can even call the service provider directly. If it is unlocked, just grab a SIM card from a different service and you should be good to go!

I double-checked, and yes, the phone is unlocked!
