Why won’t my MacBook Air turn on without the charger?

I dropped my MacBook Air a couple of times, and now it only turns on when it's plugged into the charger. Does anyone know what could be causing this issue? It's also running slower than usual, and the cursor is lagging quite a bit.

It sounds like your battery might be damaged from the drops. If your MacBook Air is a 2020 model, the battery really should be able to hold a decent charge, but after dropping it, it may not be reading its capacity correctly. Have you checked whether it’s an Apple silicon or Intel version? If you’re unsure, you can look it up on Apple's support page. That might give you some more insights into the problem.

It’s possible you have a hardware issue due to the drops. Sometimes, connectors might get loose and cause charging problems. I recommend getting it checked out at an Apple Store or authorized service provider to see if the battery or other internal components need replacing.

You could also try resetting the SMC (System Management Controller) on your MacBook Air. Sometimes, that can fix power issues. Just Google how to reset the SMC for your model, and it might help with the charging issue and performance lag.
