I have an old iPhone 11 that hasn't been used for a while, and the battery has started to lift. I found a local shop that offers disposal services for old devices, but I'm a bit concerned about whether someone could repair it and access my personal information. I tried turning it on, but it doesn't work anymore. I also used the 'delete device' feature on Find My iPhone since I got a new phone, and it says that it will delete everything once it connects to Wi-Fi. I just want to make sure that if someone were to get their hands on it, they wouldn't be able to access my stuff, especially without my password. Is it safe for me to go ahead and dispose of this phone?

You should be safe! Even if someone manages to fix the logic board, it's really tough to bypass the iOS password, so your data should remain secure. If the only issue is the battery, you might consider selling it or giving it to someone who can use it for parts. It could really help someone in need!

But saying it's 'impossible' to break an iOS password isn't totally accurate. While it's very difficult, it's not out of the question depending on the tools and effort. It's rare, but you never know!
