Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my graphics card to an MSI Gaming Trio 5070, which is a larger 1x16-pin connector model. Since I installed it, I've run into a weird problem. When my PC case is lying flat and open, everything works great—I've been gaming without any issues for over a month. But the moment I try to stand the case upright and close it, my PC just won't boot; the screen stays black with no signal whatsoever.
Here's what I've got in my setup:
- **PSU**: 600W (an older model without a native 16-pin connector— using an adapter)
- **GPU**: MSI 5070 requiring a support bracket, but it barely fits in my case and seems to sag a bit
- **Case details**: A really tight fit where the 16-pin cable touches the side panel.
- The included GPU support stand doesn't fit in my case at all.
I've tried keeping the case horizontal, running stress tests, and even reseating the GPU, but nothing changes when it's upright. I'm starting to think maybe the sag of the GPU is causing a bad connection, or the power cable could be shorting against the case. If anyone has dealt with a similar issue, do you think a right-angle adapter could help with the connection? Or should I be more concerned about the sagging and maybe consider a different case?

It’s possible there's something touching metal inside, shorting out the power supply. It sounds like it detects an issue and prevents the PC from turning on as a safety measure. You might want to check for any loose screws or cables that could be making contact with the case.
It sounds like something's not quite seated properly. Maybe double-check all your connections to make sure they're snug. Sometimes even just a small misalignment can cause boot issues.
Yeah, that makes sense! I’d definitely check all areas where metal could touch metal. My friend had a similar issue with grounding.
