I'm relatively new to PC usage and recently fell victim to a bootkit attack. Scammers convinced me to run some code in PowerShell and access my system folders. They started making threats, revealing personal information which made me panic. After this incident, which happened two weeks ago, I powered down my PC without restarting it. I'm wondering if there's any way to eliminate the bootkit without having to throw away my SSD, HDD, or motherboard.

Yes, you can flash the BIOS, wipe partitions, and reinstall your operating system. This way, you can still use all your hardware. By the way, have you updated your email and account passwords yet? It’s crucial to do that right away to secure your accounts.

Thanks for the advice! I'm just a student and can't really afford new PC parts right now, so I appreciate any tips!
