I've heard that the current CPU generation has some issues. If I go ahead and enable XMP, will it negatively affect my CPU? I'm a bit hesitant about the potential risks, but enabling XMP seems like a pretty standard adjustment to make.

Enabling XMP is comparable to adjusting the refresh rate of your monitor to its maximum. It's a safe change and shouldn’t harm your CPU at all.
It’s totally fine to enable XMP. The main concern with CPU degradation relates to high core voltage and temperatures, which are generally not an issue with XMP settings.
Just make sure you're on the latest BIOS and that the Intel voltage settings are as recommended. You should have no issues with enabling XMP.
