Why Does Safari Show Recently Closed Tabs from Years Ago?

I've been dealing with this issue for ages. Whenever I check the recently closed tabs in Safari by holding the '+' button, I come across tabs that I closed years ago—like back during the first Trump administration! I've switched from an iPhone 6S to a 12 mini and now to a 16, but the problem persists. Is there a way to fix this?

Safari’s syncing has been janky for a long time. Honestly, it feels like nobody at Apple uses their own products. There might not be a proper fix since it seems like Apple is indifferent about these issues. I switched to Brave, and everything works smoothly for me now.

Are those old devices still linked to your iCloud account? If so, try removing them. This issue could be related to lingering connections with your old devices.

No, they're not linked anymore. I just want to clarify that this isn't about iCloud tabs showing open windows from another device. It's the section meant for recently closed tabs from my current device, and it still shows tabs I closed years ago.

It’s frustrating, right? It almost feels like those closed tabs are haunting you! I’ve noticed similar issues but found going through settings and resetting Safari to default can help clear some of the old cache. Worth a shot!
