I'm a BCA student starting out with coding in C, and I want to pursue a career as a software developer. What key areas should I concentrate on first? Any tips to help me get started?

Before diving into coding, get comfortable with searching for solutions online; trust me, you'll rely on that skill a lot!
Start with the classic 'Hello, World!' to see your first program in action. From there, gradually tackle more complex concepts. You'll get the hang of it! 👍
Focus on truly understanding C since it's fundamental for many other languages. Once you grasp the basics, try working with utilities like 'cdecl' to solidify your knowledge. After that, experiment a little with learning tools like lex and yacc/bison to create projects. If you're interested in hardware, play around with microcontrollers and sensors. Dive into data structures too; even a simple 3D drawing program would be a great challenge. As you progress, learning about computational models like parallel vector arithmetic will set you up for future breakthroughs in AI programming!

Just be cautious. You don’t need to jump into 3D graphics and advanced hardware coding right away. Stick to mastering control flows, loops, and pointers first. Getting those basics down well will make everything else much easier later on!
