Should I buy a used RTX 3070 for $300 CAD or wait for the RTX 5060?

Hey everyone! I've noticed that some miners in my area are selling off their RTX 3070 GPUs for around $300 CAD right before the RTX 5060 drops. I've been holding off on upgrading for a while and could wait even longer if necessary. From what I understand, the 3070 might outperform the 5060 by about 10%, but it's an older card that's likely been heavily used and lacks modern features like warranty or frame generation. Is it worth jumping on a 3070 now, or should I just hold out a few more months and shell out an extra $150 for a brand new 5060 or even a 5060 Ti? What do you all think?

Honestly, I would be cautious about buying a used card from miners. They might just be looking to recover their losses. I'd say $300 is a bit steep unless the card isn’t from mining. Last time I bought one, I got it for $265 and it was in great shape, so maybe hold out for a better deal.

That’s a fair point! They really do suck stock from the market and then sell for a premium. Where did you find your deal? Was it on something like Kijiji or eBay?

Honestly, I think the used RTX 3070 is a better deal at $300 CAD, especially since the new 5060 with just 8GB of VRAM isn't offering much more value. Plus, frame generation isn't that big of a help compared to native rendering. If you’re gaming at lower FPS, it still feels off. DLSS is also pretty solid on RTX 3000 cards, so you'd be fine there.

Thanks for the insights! If the prices were the same, would you still choose the 5060, or is there a specific price point where the 3070 wouldn't be worth it?
