How can I remove a virus after accidentally installing a zip file?

I've been installing repack games for years, so I was pretty caught off guard when I ran into issues recently. I mistakenly installed a zip file instead of a torrent file while trying to get a game, and I didn't scan it with VirusTotal first. When I attempted to unzip it, Chrome crashed on me, which felt strange. I quickly deleted the file and halted any activity related to it. However, I later posted a car for sale on a marketplace from a random location, which has me worried about my laptop's security. I don't have any banking info online, so I'm more concerned about the health of my laptop than anything else. Can I fix this by reformatting, or are there other methods?

If it's not from fitgirl.ru, I'd be cautious. That's honestly the only site I trust for repacks.

I went with Dodi repacks since fitgirl didn't have Hogwarts Legacy!

Try running a full scan with Windows Defender. If that doesn’t clear it up, you might want to consider reinstalling Windows, but don't forget to back up your data first!

Can I just reset my laptop instead?

You probably should've made sure to download from a more reliable site. There are subreddits that list trustworthy repack sources, maybe check those out. But that's just my two cents!

I used Dodi repacks, though!
