Advice for My First PC Build under $800

I'm looking to make the jump into PC gaming and I need some help with my first build! I'm in the US and have a budget of between $700 and $800. I don't have much experience with building PCs, but I really appreciate any suggestions or guidance you can provide. I primarily want to play Borderlands 2, so I don't need a super high-end setup, but I'd like to know what's the best I can get for my budget. Also, if you could recommend a monitor that fits my setup, that would be fantastic!

Check out this build I found! It's listed on PCPartPicker for a total of $900, which is slightly over your budget. It includes a 1TB Gen 4 SSD, a 550W PSU, an 8GB VRAM GPU, and a 1080p 200Hz gaming monitor. It's a solid choice, but if you're trying to stick more closely to your $800 limit, you might need to consider used parts. Here's the link for the build: [PCPartPicker Build](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ycsKZQ). Also, here's a video that shows the performance you can expect: [Gaming Performance](https://youtu.be/VK8248WZErA?si=tsYCp79LRwiMn6QR). If you can gather an extra $100, this could be a great option!

Will this setup be good for remote work too?

If you really want to stick under your budget, here's a customized build I put together on PCPartPicker that totals about $779. This build includes an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 CPU, a Gigabyte B550M motherboard, 16GB of RAM, a 960GB SSD, a decent GPU, case, and a monitor. Check it out [here](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8bH4Cw). The parts are well-balanced for gaming and you should have a pretty smooth experience playing Borderlands 2!

Thank you for breaking it down!

Honestly, for your budget and needs, considering a used PC might actually be the best way to go. Borderlands 2 is quite easy to run. However, if you're looking for something new, you might want to check out this gaming PC at Micro Center for $900. I know that’s a bit over what you wanted to spend, but it’s a great entry-level build that can handle modern games very well! Just wanted to let you know. Here’s a link: [Micro Center Build](https://www.microcenter.com/product/698928/powerspec-g240-gaming-pc).
