So, my dog just chewed through our internet cable, which I believe is a cat5 RJ11 cable for DSL high-speed internet. I've learned that this type of cable is quite old and not commonly used anymore. We did order a replacement, but it won't arrive until the end of the week, and with work, we really need internet access. Does anyone know what I can do in the meantime?

Make sure you're not using a connector that’s too skinny. A network cable like Cat5 actually has four twisted pairs inside, while a phone cord only has one. If you take the chewed-up cable with you, staff can help you find the right replacement.
Honestly, if you need something fast, you might want to consider a WiFi dongle for your computer. If you don’t have built-in WiFi, you can use your phone as a hotspot to get online until your replacement cable arrives. That could really help out in the meantime!
Cat5 cables typically have four twisted pairs. The RJ11 connectors are more commonly used for phone lines and don’t support high-speed DSL like Cat5 does. Depending on your setup, it could be that your older DSL modem is incompatible with standard phone wiring.
It sounds like you might just need a standard phone cord, which is pretty similar. You could probably find one at any home improvement store, electronics shop, or even Walmart.
I tried using a phone cord, but it didn’t work for internet. It fits but doesn't connect.
If you have an old phone lying around, you can use it temporarily until the new cable arrives! It’s not a permanent fix, but it could help you out for a bit.

Yes, it is from AT&T. Thanks for the tip!
