Hey everyone, I'm a video editor and I recently found that a ton of my files are missing from my hard drive. It's really frustrating because I lost entire project folders, including crucial footage from a film project I was still working on. I'm certain I didn't delete them, so I'm genuinely confused and worried about where they might have gone. Any advice or help would be hugely appreciated! Thanks!

If you’re using a Mac, it might be a disk catalog issue where your computer isn’t recognizing the files on the drive. You might want to try using Diskwarrior to help with that. If these files are really important, consider reaching out to a professional recovery service. It’s also a good reminder to start backing up your work more regularly, especially when it's for client projects!
You might want to try using Wise Jetsearch. It's faster than Windows Explorer when it comes to searching for lost files, and it could help you find what you're missing more quickly!
First off, don’t save anything new to that hard drive just yet! If your files were deleted or corrupted, adding new data could overwrite them. Check for them first by searching for the project name or file type (like .mp4, .mov, or .prproj) in Windows Explorer. Also, take a look in the recycle bin to make sure the folders didn't accidentally end up there. If you can’t find anything, it might be a glitch with how the drive is indexing, accidental deletion, or possible file system errors. Run 'chkdsk' to check for issues and consider using a file recovery tool like Recuva or Disk Drill to scan for the missing folders.

You can check your recycle bin by opening it from your desktop. Just look for any folders or files that might belong to your project and restore them if you find them!
