How Can I Find a Remote Job in IT After Graduation?

Hey everyone! I'm about to graduate in May with a BAS in Cybersecurity & Information Technology, and I'm wondering how to find a remote job. I have three years of onsite sysadmin experience and six months in a help desk position. I've been looking on sites like LinkedIn and Indeed for roles like SOC analyst, support specialist, sysadmin, SharePoint administrator, and Active Directory administrator. However, I've only received the usual rejection emails and no success so far. I'm open to any IT or cybersecurity role but don't have a security clearance, which limits my options for government jobs. Any advice on where else I can look or how to improve my chances?

The job market is really competitive, especially for remote positions. Major companies have recently laid off a huge number of employees, so you're not just up against locals but also veterans from those layoffs. It’s essential to keep networking and trying different strategies—keep at it!

It might help to look into less conventional locations where people might not want to work. Job postings for those areas often fly under the radar but can offer remote or hybrid options. It’s another avenue to explore!

Finding remote jobs can be really tough right now; they’re in short supply. Most positions tend to be onsite, and if you’re lucky, you might come across some hybrid roles. It might be worth considering local opportunities too, even if the initial preference is for remote work.

Honestly, you're facing a crowded job market. There are tons of experienced IT professionals also searching for remote work, which makes it competitive. Unless you have some unique skills or connections, it could be challenging to land a remote position. Sometimes it just comes down to luck too!

While having a security clearance is a plus, not all government jobs require it. However, you might still have to manage your expectations. Many remote positions that existed previously are now shifting back to the office. Keep searching, and don’t lose hope!

Thanks for the encouragement! I’ll keep applying and broaden my search for local roles as well.
