I recently had a family gathering and let my 9-year-old cousin play on my PC. He asked if he could download a cheat, claiming it was safe since his friends used it. I was a bit hesitant but ended up allowing it. After coming home at 4 AM, I received a slew of alarming emails about threats to my Gmail account, and my Steam account was suddenly logged out and had its password changed. I've reached out to Steam support and changed the passwords for all my other social media accounts. What else can I do? I've lost about $500 worth of games, and I still haven't heard back from Steam.

If you can, try reinstalling Windows using a USB stick. Just a heads up though, it's usually a solid measure when hacking happens. Just be prepared for some work with restoring files after that.
Give Steam support some time to react; they've got a team for serious issues like this one. Hang in there!

Is it absolutely necessary to reinstall? I have a ton of files I'd rather not lose. I found an old Notepad with my Steam username and password in it, but it doesn't help with the email login issue.
