Looking for Budget External SSDs to Run My OS

Hey folks! I'm trying to set things up for my gaming laptop. I want to install Cachy on my main drive, but I also need to keep Windows around since my friends and I love playing games together. I'm on a budget and would like recommendations for inexpensive external SSDs that I can run games on. I'm hoping to find something under $150, as I know prices are pretty wild right now. Thanks in advance!

Have you checked if your laptop has a spare M.2 drive slot? If it does, an internal M.2 drive would be much faster than external USB SSDs and typically around the same price point. Just something to consider!

I have an HP Victus, but I don't think the motherboard has that connector.

Honestly, you probably only need a basic 120GB external SSD for the OS itself. Those are pretty affordable! You can still keep all your game installs on the internal drive.

If your main drive has enough space, consider partitioning it instead. That way you can allocate some room for your new setup without needing an external SSD.
