Is the Ryzen 7 5700X3D a Good Match for the RX 9070 XT for 1080p Gaming?

I'm looking for some feedback on my recent hardware upgrades. I've just moved from a Ryzen 7 1700 to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D and upgraded my GPU from an RX 580 8GB to the RX 9070 XT 16GB, which is on its way to me now. I also increased my RAM from 16GB to 48GB. My goal is to maximize FPS for 1080p gaming since I'm using a 240Hz display, and I prefer higher FPS over jumping to higher resolutions. I know the RX 9070 XT is more suited for 1440p, and I might explore that in the future, but my current monitor is relatively new. I also want to play with ray tracing, even though I saw that the RX 9070 XT might not perform as well as the RTX 4070 Ti or 5070 Ti. My question is, will this new setup work well together without bottlenecks? I'd love to hear from others who have similar builds. Thanks!

Yes, it'll work great together! Just keep in mind that bottlenecks usually don't impact gaming in a meaningful way unless you're pushing crazy limits. Just enjoy the FPS!

Nothing's really overkill. Think of it this way: spending on powerful hardware now means you won't have to upgrade for ages. Even something like a 5090 for 1080p can last you 10-15 years before needing an upgrade! You're set with your current selections; just don’t overdo it on storage like getting 256GB of RAM—most likely, that’s excess, but for processing power, more is always better!

That combo is solid for 1080p. It’s one of the top choices you can make, but I’m not sure I would label it "overkill." The RX 9070 XT will definitely give you a boost in performance, but it’s mainly about future-proofing your rig too.

That's a relief to hear! I was worried about it being too much for 1080p.

Bottlenecks can vary, but generally, they’re overrated. Having high-end hardware means you're prepared for future game demands, which is smart planning. There’s no such thing as too much power if you're aiming for longevity.
