How Can I Start Coding as a 17-Year-Old Student and Build a Successful Career?

I'm a 17-year-old in 12th grade, and I've decided to focus on preparing for my board exams since I find them less stressful than the JEE. I don't want to waste this time and am eager to learn a skill that will help me secure a good future. I want to explore coding again, but it's been a while since I've done any programming. My mom is a computer science teacher, so I have some resources available. I'm looking for advice on a high-paying skill I can learn without pursuing a BTech degree. Any tips on how to start and what paths I should consider would be greatly appreciated!

At your age, I'd say focus on what interests you about coding rather than just aiming for a high salary. Try making apps, building websites, or even making games. Find a project that excites you and learn from it. That way, you develop skills while having fun!

Yeah, I'm really keen to just learn something new and see where it leads me!

If your only motivation is money, remember that many people have been coding for years out of passion. You might find it tough to compete without a genuine interest in coding. But if you're ready to hustle and really dive in, find a starting point that draws you in, whether that's web, game development, or something else.

Money is definitely a factor for me, but this year I'm committed to finding a skill I can pour my effort into. Just trying to see where to begin!

You might want to dive into development rather than getting bogged down with data structures and algorithms since you aren't sure about pursuing engineering. Web or app development could be promising. Build some projects and even contribute to open-source on GitHub to gain experience.

Thanks, I'll definitely try that out!

If financial stability is your main goal, consider broadening your focus beyond programming. While tech jobs can pay well right now, the field is really dynamic and may not be the safest bet in the long run. Maybe look into careers that emphasize soft skills—they tend to be more secure and less likely to be affected by automation.

Thanks for the advice! I'll explore other skills and still keep some tech knowledge on the side.

Honestly, programming may not be the best route if you're in it just for the money. You'd likely earn just as much in jobs like nursing, finance, or accounting, and they can save you a ton of stress during job hunting. Think about what path feels right for you instead of just chasing a salary.

Right now, I just want to learn something relevant that could provide income in the future and make the most of this year!
