Why won’t my PC boot with RAM in the B slots?

I'm having a bit of a problem with my PC after upgrading my CPU. I originally had a Ryzen 5 3600 that died, so I borrowed a Ryzen 7 3700x. Now, whenever I try to boot up the PC with my RAM sticks in the B1 and B2 slots, I just get a black screen. But if I put the RAM in the A slots, everything works fine. I've already attempted a few troubleshooting steps, including resetting the BIOS by removing the battery, toggling XMP in the BIOS, and trying different slot combinations for dual-channel operation (like A1 + B2 and A2 + B2). Here's what I'm working with: Motherboard: B550 Aorus Elite V2, CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x, RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz, GPU: Intel Arc B580 12GB.

Try installing your RAM in the A2 and B2 slots. And just to be safe, clear the CMOS before booting up by unplugging the PSU and removing the motherboard battery.

I did that, but I'm still getting a black screen. It's so frustrating!

Have you considered reseating the CPU? Sometimes, the connections to the RAM slots can be flaky, especially with a different CPU. Also, it's possible that the memory controller on the borrowed CPU has issues.

Yep, I've reseated the CPU, but it's still not working. Could the B slots be damaged?

Testing RAM can be tricky. First, try using just one RAM stick to figure out if it’s a slot issue. Then swap the RAM sticks to see if one is faulty. If the working slots still don’t respond, check for any physical damage on the slots or the CPU pins.

I've done all that, and at this point, I think either the RAM slots are faulty or the CPU's memory controller isn't functioning.
