My mom was using her laptop in S mode, which I believe is a safer mode, and she had some important text documents saved. However, after installing a recent Windows update, all her documents seem to have disappeared. I'm not certain if S mode is still active or not, but is there any way to recover those missing files? I've tried adjusting some settings, but nothing seems to work.

This kind of thing happens sometimes after Windows updates. Her files might not be gone; it's possible that their permissions got messed up, which is why they're not showing. You might need to log in with an admin account and adjust the permissions for her user profile. There are plenty of step-by-step guides out there that can help you.
You should definitely check OneDrive by logging in at www.office.com with her Windows account. Her Desktop and Documents folders might be there, and her text documents could still be safely stored there! Good luck!
