Hey everyone! I'm currently a high school computer science teacher with about six years of experience. Before teaching, I had very little coding experience aside from some elective classes in college. Now I'm at a crossroads—I'm not sure if I want to continue teaching much longer, and I'm seriously thinking about transitioning into a programming career. Given that I'm nearing 40 and mainly have experience teaching Java and Python to high school students, do you think it's still possible for me to make this switch? If so, what would be the best steps for me to take?

I've got to be honest, the junior market can be pretty tough right now. If you're looking to break into an individual contributor role, your skills might be viewed similarly to new graduates. Personally, I’d suggest holding off until the market improves, but who knows when that'll happen!
