I'm considering upgrading my current GTX 1070 and have my eye on a used 3060 Ti. However, I've heard that the 3060 Ti might just be a side grade compared to the 1080 Ti. With a budget of $300, what are my best options, and should I go for the 3060 Ti?

Why not sell your GTX 1070? That'll give you more cash to find something like an RX 6800 XT 16GB, and that beats the 3060 Ti in performance!
Have you considered looking for a used 3070 Ti? It could fit right in your price range and offers great performance!
With a $300 budget, definitely keep an eye on the RX 6800 or RTX 3070 Ti. The RX 6700 XT or RTX 3070 might be under $250, and they would also give you good performance improvements over the 1070.
The 3060 Ti is a decent upgrade from the 1070, but don't mistake it for a huge leap forward. If you're gaming at 1080p, the 1080 Ti is still a strong contender. You might find it worth your while to look for options like the RTX 3070 or even a 3080 if you shop around, as they can sometimes be found close to your budget. Plus, having access to DLSS on newer cards is a big advantage for performance!
You can also find a B580 on eBay for about $290 if you decide to go a different route with your budget!

I hear you on the DLSS thing. I’m also wondering if it significantly affects quality or just boosts performance. Any thoughts on that?
