Best Motherboard Choices for a 9800X3D CPU under €350

I'm looking to buy a high-end motherboard for a 9800X3D CPU as a gift for a friend who is turning 30. We have a budget of under €350 and want something reliable with good RAM compatibility and enough space for multiple SSDs. I initially considered the GIGABYTE X870E AORUS Elite X3D, but I've heard that it might not be the best option for 2K gaming, especially since my friend is more inclined towards the 9950X3D. Any recommendations for a top-notch X870E motherboard that won't break the bank?

If you're set on the X870E chipset, make sure you really need its features over something cheaper like a B850. For most users, the extra capability of the X870E is just overkill for gaming. The Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite WIFI7 is nice, but even a B850 should do just fine unless your friend is into extreme overclocking and pushing top-tier RAM and the CPU to its limits.

That's a good point! I just thought I'd go for high-end since it's a gift. But maybe sticking to something more practical is better.

Honestly, the 9800X3D and 9950X3D perform nearly identically in games, so you might want to consider that when choosing the motherboard. Your selection should focus on features that make sense for your friend's usage—most likely, a B850 will offer what you need for a better price, and many X-series boards can even be cheaper.

I like the MSI Tomahawk; it's a solid option. You should look into its specs to see if it matches your friend's needs. It's got good build quality and decent features without going overboard on the price.

For best value, check out the MSI MAG X870E Gaming Max WiFi. It has excellent M.2 support and 5Gb LAN for great connectivity. Just remember that certain boards drop PCIe lanes when using multiple M.2 slots, so keep an eye on that when you're selecting.

If maximum M.2 support is key, definitely check out the specs and see how they compare. Some boards will have slots that share bandwidth, which can be a real hassle in terms of performance. Always better to triple-check those features before committing to a board!
