How can I clean my PC after getting hacked?

I think I might have been hacked! Yesterday, while trying to crack some software, I accidentally clicked on a sketchy link and downloaded something I shouldn't have. I ran the program, but it didn't work, so I ended it through the Windows task manager and deleted the download. I thought that was the end of it, but today I received some emails warning me that someone accessed my Gmail account. I checked and found out my Epic Games and Ubisoft accounts were compromised, though I don't really use them much. I've changed all my passwords, but I'm worried that the hacker might still be on my PC. How can I make sure to get rid of any potential threats? Thanks for your help!

Moral of the story? Don’t mess around with cracking software; it usually leads to trouble. Just keep your software legit!

You should reformat your PC immediately. Don't back up anything until you're sure it’s safe. Just wipe it clean and start fresh. This is the best way to ensure any hidden malware is gone.

Totally agree! When in doubt, just wipe the hard drive and reinstall your OS. Safety first!

Make sure to check your settings carefully and reinstall your important software cleanly afterward.

A big lesson here: never open .exe files from untrusted sources! If you have a Mac, use package managers like brew instead. Seriously though, reformat your drive, change all your passwords, and set up two-factor authentication right away.

Definitely! Two-factor authentication is a lifesaver. Just set it up on all your accounts immediately!

Solid advice! Better to be safe than sorry in cases like this.
