How Can I Get Photos Off My Dad’s Old Flip Phone?

I recently inherited my dad's old flip phone after he passed away, and I want to retrieve the pictures stored on it. From what I've found, it appears to be a Samsung SCH-R430 model from 2008. I'm unsure of how to transfer these photos to my current phone or to my computer. Any advice on what steps to take would be really appreciated!

It sounds like you might need to try a couple of things to get those photos off your flip phone. First, check if there's a way to connect the phone to your PC and change the connection type to either 'USB mode' or 'file transfer.' This might help your computer recognize the device. If that doesn’t work, consider using an SD card if your phone has one; you can transfer the photos onto it and then use an SD card reader on your PC. Bluetooth is another option, but that depends on both devices supporting it. You could also look into online cloud services or emailing the pictures if those features are available on your phone.

Plus, make sure your phone is actually in 'media transfer' mode when you connect it to the PC. Sometimes it's just a setting that needs to be adjusted!

When you connect the flip phone to the PC, look for a DCIM folder – that’s usually where all the pictures are stored. You might have to dig around a bit to find it, but if the connection is working right, copying the photos should be straightforward from there. If your PC isn't recognizing the phone at all, the SD card option might be your best bet!

I've tried connecting it, but it only shows up as charging on my PC, so I haven't been able to access any folders.
