I just upgraded from a GTX 1650 to an RTX 3050, but I'm not seeing much of an improvement in performance. The light next to my PCIe slot changed from red to white after installation, and I noticed that this new GPU runs off the motherboard rather than the power supply. Could any of this be affecting my performance? Any advice would be really helpful, as I'm still learning about these upgrades!

If your new RTX 3050 has 6GB of VRAM, the performance increase could be around 25% on average, so if you were getting 60 fps before, you might see about 75 fps now. It's not a huge jump, but you should notice a difference in demanding games.
Before anything, what's your CPU? It plays a big role in how much improvement you'll see after upgrading your GPU. 75% more performance is expected, but it really depends on your CPU too!
You should see a notable improvement, but it might be less than expected if you're running on integrated graphics or if your CPU is bottlenecking. Also, have you made sure to reinstall the GPU drivers after the upgrade? That can make a difference!
Yeah, I just reinstalled the drivers.
I have a Ryzen 5 3600.
