How Can I Choose the Right Extender for My Router?

I'm having a tough time with my gaming setup that's in the room farthest from my router. The Wi-Fi is pretty unreliable, and I can only get it to work properly close to the router. I think it's a range issue, so I started looking into Wi-Fi extenders. However, I'm not very tech-savvy and I'm not sure what kind of specifications I should look for to make sure an extender will work with my router. Any advice or tips would be really helpful!

If you're really leaning towards an extender, just make sure it’s from the same brand as your router. But honestly, many people find extenders can be unreliable. You might want to reconsider your options.

I’d recommend skipping extenders altogether as they can really degrade your connection. Instead, consider investing in a mesh Wi-Fi system or, even better, run a hardwired connection if you can. It’ll give you a much stronger and reliable signal for your gaming setup. Trust me, it’s worth it in the long run!

I've had a great experience with mesh systems, especially when I hardwired the extensions. Totally worth it!

I don’t get why extenders would be that bad. I thought they just amplified the signal!

To give you the best advice, it would help to know the make and model of your router. But generally, extenders can be hit or miss. If you do go for one, try to get the same brand as your router and look into user reviews about their compatibility.
