I recently bought a second-hand laptop that was in mint condition. Everything was working great until one day it just stopped recognizing any USB drives. They don't show up in disk management, but I can hear the sound when I plug them in and out. I've tried a bunch of things to fix it, but nothing's working. I really don't want to reset my laptop as I can't back up my files. Does anyone have any solutions?

It sounds like it might be a hardware issue if your laptop isn't recognizing bootable USB drives either. One thing you can try is resetting your BIOS settings to default. Sometimes that can help with hardware communication problems. Just be careful with any changes to your disk setup to avoid losing data!
Before diving into any major fixes, make sure your USB ports are clean and free from any dust. Sometimes a simple cleaning can do wonders! If that doesn't help, try plugging the USB drives into another computer to see if they work there. If they do, it might be a sign that the ports are the issue. If not, there could be a problem with the drives themselves.
