How Can I Recover Files from a Water-Damaged Huawei MateBook Pro X 2019?

I had a bit of a disaster when I was washing dishes; my sister accidentally caught the laptop's cable with her foot, and it went right into some water. I've been working on my dissertation for the last four weeks, but I found out that my OneDrive isn't reliable, and none of my files are there. I turned off the laptop and have kept it upside down for several days now. Before shutting it down, the screen went haywire and just had lines everywhere. I've noticed a crack on the screen, and I'm really hoping the problem is just with the screen and not something worse. Is there any way to recover my files? I've heard that the soldered SSD might complicate things. Thanks for any advice!

Did you try turning the laptop back on after the incident?

No, I'm too scared it might fry the hardware completely.

You could let it dry for a couple of weeks and then try removing the SSD to connect it to another computer with a USB adapter. But honestly, if the water damage affected your display so quickly, there's a good chance your storage could be damaged too. At this point, it sounds like your dissertation is probably in the cloud, whether you like it or not.

Your best bet is to take it to a PC repair specialist. They have the tools and expertise to help mitigate the damage and might be able to recover your files.

How much should I expect to pay for that kind of service? I'm a little worried about the cost.
