How can I stop Windows from automatically updating my Nvidia drivers?

I'm looking for a way to specifically disable automatic updates for Nvidia drivers without affecting other driver updates. I recently used DDU to install my laptop's manufacturer Nvidia driver because the current 50 series drivers haven't been performing well for me. However, I woke up to find that Windows had replaced it with the generic game ready driver again. I can't seem to find a way to prevent this from happening. Most guides online only cover how to disable all driver updates, which isn't what I want. Any help would be appreciated!

You can use Microsoft's tool called "Show or Hide Updates" to prevent specific updates from being installed. Just download the tool, run it, and it'll allow you to hide the Nvidia driver update from appearing again. It's quite straightforward!

Here’s a step-by-step for using the tool: 1. Download wushowhide.diagcab from Microsoft's website. 2. Run the tool and proceed to the next step. 3. Click 'Hide updates' and find the Nvidia driver in the list. Check it and click Next to apply. After doing this, Windows should ignore that driver for future updates.

If you have Microsoft Intune, there's a profile option that can let you exclude updates for specific drivers, including Nvidia. It might be a bit complex if you're not familiar with it, but it could be worth exploring if you have a business license.

There’s really no option to disable only Nvidia updates selectively; the closest is to stop all hardware updates. It can be a hassle, but some users find it works better for them.
