I'm contemplating whether to switch to an AM4 setup for my PC build. With RAM prices being pretty high lately, I'm looking for a system that will last me around 3 to 4 years. If I choose AM4, will that be a wise decision for my gaming and general use? I mainly play CPU-intensive games like CS2 and Minecraft, and I'm currently using a PS5. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

We need to know your current hardware to give a solid recommendation. What CPU, GPU, and RAM do you have now? Also, prices and availability can vary drastically depending on your location. Deals in the US might be better than what you find where you are.
It really depends on your current setup and what you're expecting. The AM4 platform has been around for a while, with the 5000 series CPUs being about 4 years old now. If you're looking to play the latest triple-A titles in a few years, you might be underwhelmed. But for less demanding games, AM4 could still hold up well. Just keep in mind your expectations for the future!
I'm mostly going to be playing CS2, Minecraft, and other CPU-focused games.
If you're still on DDR3 and can't make the jump to AM5 just yet, then switching to AM4 could be a good idea. It would give you a solid PC for the time frame you're looking at, and you could always sell the parts later for an upgrade. But honestly, saving a bit more for AM5 might be worth it, especially if you're serious about gaming. PC building can get pricey, so factor that into your plans!
Actually, I'm coming from a PS5 and thinking of switching to PC.

I'm in Iraq. My current setup includes a Ryzen 7 9700X, a 5060ti, and 16GB DDR5 RAM.
