I'm planning to build a PC using the AM4 platform and I have a laptop with 32GB of SO-DIMM DDR4 RAM. Since RAM prices are really high right now, I'm considering using SO-DIMM to DIMM adapters to repurpose this RAM. Is this a wise move? Will there be a significant difference compared to standard DIMM RAM?

Most of the time, you'll end up running the RAM at lower speeds, often around 2133MHz for DDR4, which is on the slower side today. For gaming, that could impact your performance, but for basic tasks like web browsing and office work, you might not notice much difference.
Yes, these adapters do work, but you’re likely to be limited to JEDEC speeds or slightly above that. You can try overclocking with XMP or EXPO profiles, but results may vary.

That's a good point. If you're mainly gaming then you might want to reconsider.
