Hey everyone! A few days ago, I moved a Dell PowerEdge R740 from one rack to another, and after reconnecting everything and powering it on, I'm seeing some troubling error logs in the iDRAC9. It says the PERC1 battery has failed, and that iDRAC can't communicate with Integrated RAID Controller 1 due to possible seating issues, firmware errors, or similar problems. I'm reaching out for help—what could be causing this error, and how do I go about troubleshooting it? I'm still pretty new at this, and the server was working fine before the move. Thanks for any guidance!

Have a look at the error message first—it’s pretty clear on what’s needed. Here’s a helpful link to get you started: [PowerEdge: Understanding PERC Battery Errors](https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000351229/poweredge-understanding-perc-battery-errors). Start by replacing the battery and checking if everything is seated right. If the problem persists, you might need to look into repairing the PERC firmware. And just a note: make sure you have backups, just in case!

We haven’t gotten a replacement PERC yet. If I disconnect the PERC controller entirely, would the server still boot up?
