Is It Worth Mastering Bash Before Learning a Programming Language?

I'm a 16-year-old high school student and a beginner in programming. I want to learn command-line interfaces (CLI) and am considering spending 1-2 months mastering Bash along with another basic programming language before diving deeper into programming concepts and data structures. I have about two years before college, and I'm wondering if focusing on Bash is practical and how important it really is for becoming a good programmer. Any tips would be appreciated!

There's really no such thing as truly mastering a programming language or shell. The key is to learn as you go. It's more about being comfortable with the tools you have than knowing everything. If you aim to use the terminal efficiently and understand the basics of how it works, that’s already a great foundation! Don't stress too much about mastering it all at once.

I think you’ve understood the goal. Mastery often means being able to use it comfortably and effectively. You don’t need to know every little detail to claim you’ve got a good handle on it!
